It was only the script that didn’t live up to expectations. The acting was commendable as it always is, and the prosthetics & CGI were both brilliant. It just felt a bit too slow to start off with.
The first ten minutes flew past, and other than Alan being offered a job in Washington D.C., and finding out about the lights in Goblin’s Copse, they weren’t really into the story. Then I found the ending just too rushed. There’ll be more on that later on in the review.

Anyway, there were some enjoyable parts, most of the episode in fact, but what really stood out to me were the scenes in the woods. Some of the best scripting & acting came from them. The Sontaran scenes were definitely on top form here, unlike the ones in the telescope building.
Aside from the main characters, the person who played Lucy was fantastic. It’s a shame that the script was poor for her, especially not realising something was wrong with her dad when everyone else could.

I like how they’ve decorated Maria’s house. It makes the atmosphere perfect, and shows now that they’ve lived there for a while. As long as the interior stays the same when Alan & Maria head off for the U.S.A., I’ll be happy.
Back to the ending, which I found too rushed. I was annoyed by Commander Kaargh (I think that’s how it’s spelt) revealing his plan. It’s too simple to defeat now, although it was good to know the threat. The cliff-hanger was amazing, I have to admit, and I’m looking forward to next week.

Overall, I found this episode good, but it could be improved.
